Featured MMJ Strain: Jillybean
Jillybean is a strain using a name consistent with its description. With a strong flavor of fruit, it’s obvious why the strain acquired its name, which is a word-play on the fruity candy “Jellybeans.” Jillybean is known for making patients feel happy, euphoric, uplifted, energetic, creative, and hungry. Medicinally, Jillybean is best used for stress relief, treating depression, treating chronic pain, stimulating energy in someone with fatigue, and inducing appetite in those with nausea or GI tract issues.
Jillybean is a mix of two dank hybrids. These hybrids are already well known – Orange Velvet and Space Queen – and create an enchanting combination of flavors and appearance. Space Queen, a dank fruity strain, has high levels of myrcene, the terpene that cannabis shares with mangoes. This is matched with high levels of limonene, a terpene found in citrus, and pinene, a terpene found in pine. Orange Velvet has more limonene and adds delicious orange flavors to the mix. Overtones of skunk are present and match the fruity undertones perfectly.
Jillybean smells like tangy citrus, mango, berries, and sweetness mixed with fuel and skunk. She exists in two phenotypes, mainly a short one with wide buds, and a taller one with less “lateral stretch” on the buds. It’s a good strain for practicing or executing the SCROG or SOG methods of plant training paired with topping. Typically, the strain is completely covered in trichomes – bud and leaf. This notorious layer of trichomes is one of the many traits of Jillybean that identifies it an excellent potent medical strain.
Included below are three reviews of Jillybean which MMJ patients posted on Leafly, a marijuana strain network for medical marijuana patients.
“At the right amount (slightly less than usual for me), I found Jillybean to be a highly effective weapon against depression and general malaise.” -WestAmericans
“I have anxiety, depression and insomnia so I tend to be a crabby zombie during most days. This strain is perfect. Zen is the one word I’d use to describe it. Perfect balance. Not too baked feeling/not too intense. Still stay pretty clear headed and just happy go lucky mindset kicks in.” -stuffmicmuff
“I would recommend this to all smokers that need a pain relieving strain that doesn’t put you to sleep.” -illendent
