Featured MMJ Strain: Cheese
Cheese, a pungent Indica dominant hybrid from the UK, is widely known for both consistent phenotypes (smell, look,) and consistent potency. Cheese, created by Big Buddha Genetics, is a descendant of Skunk #1, with genetics later added from Afghani some years after the strains creation. The Afghani Indica genetics were added to increase yield, trichome production, and to add the medicinal effects of Indica to the strain.
Cheese is named after its sharp aroma, a heavily skunky scent with notes of piquant cheddar cheese. While it sounds unpleasant, many patients prefer this cheese scent to be more prevalent because of the flavor and potency associated with the smell. The buds are bright, long, and frosted with white trichomes, terpenes, and red hairs. The red hairs on cheese are especially abundant, making the hairs a good trait to use for strain identification.
Cheese’s effects are spread wide across the medicinal spectrum, due to the strain being a hybrid, however, it’s mainly reccomended for both relieving chronic pain and nausea for medical marijuana (medical cannabis) patients. Along with these conditions, it’s also useful for alleviating inflammation, depression, and helping ease insomnia. Cheese is also known for making the patients who medicate with it particularly happy and relaxed, even when not using the medicine to treat depression.
Included below are three reviews of Cheese which MMJ patients posted on Leafly, a marijuana strain network for patients.
“This strain lives up to all the hype I’ve seen lately. Great for pain, a little bit of couch lock may follow but so what? I wasn’t able to move w/o pain prior to toking this incredible strain so for me, it does the job. Bonus- euphoria & happiness prevail SO- Huge thumbs up for CHEESE! If you get the chance give it a try, you won’t be disappointed, I’m now at *Permagrin* level 😉 <3” -hipchick62
“Smoked a full bowl and was lifted. This is some strong medicine and is so smelly. Tastes beautiful, smells beautiful, great indica overall. After the high took a 2 hour nap, then smoked another bowl before bed and it knocked me right out. Love this strain for anxiety and going out and doing things, normally dont like indicas besides their anxiety and stress relief. Next day woke up so happy and early too. Great medical marijuana, glad i was able to pick up a quarter.” –medicinaluser
“My particular strain of cheese I’m reviewing because of one reason in particular, and thats the noticeable high THC count. 28.70% is the number and I feel that may account for its more sativa like effects at lower doses. although at large ones, the effects are very cerebral and tiring which is still great for bed time, so essentially you get the best of both worlds. Ultimately I recommend Cheese to any patient with a desire for a potent, consistent, and pleasant medication.” -Dave.schumpert.1
