Platinum Kush, or Platinum OG Kush, is one of the classic OG Kush phenotypes from the west coast.  This phenotype is preferred by many patients due to its uplifting and anxiolytic effects, making Platinum Kush very relaxing and happy indica strain.  Platinum Kush is reported to make patients feel relaxation, euphoria, happiness, hunger, and a general uplifting mood.  Medicinally, Platinum Kush is most known to relieve stress, pain, insomnia, depression, and nausea.

Platinum Kush is a phenotype of OG Kush, meaning that it’s a certain breed of the strain with separate physical properties.  According to Leafly.com’s article on cannabis genetics, “The plant’s genetic makeup, also called a genotype, acts as a blueprint for growth: it allows a spectrum of physical possibilities, but it is up to the environment to induce these characteristics. The physical expression of a genotype is referred to as a phenotype, which is simply defined as the traits that the environment pulls out from the plant’s genetic code. Everything from color, shape, smell, and resin production are affected by the environment.”  Since Platinum Kush shares the same DNA as OG Kush, the effects, look, and smell are all similar, but different enough to classify it as a separate strain.

Platinum Kush has a slight platinum shade due to the high level of resinous trichomes on all surfaces of the buds.  The green and purple hues of the flower are complimented by orange hairs, a classic trait of OG Kush.  The buds are incredibly dense on this high yielding strain, and when cracked in half, the smell that wafts out of the buds is a pungent combo of lemon, earth, skunk, fuel, and sweetness.  Platinum Kush may be one of the prettiest OG Kush phenotypes when properly grown.
