Tahoe OG, a phenotype of OG Kush, is a delicious classic OG strain. OG’s, or genetic children of the strain OG Kush, have genetic roots from the west coast, hence the name OG which stands for Ocean Grown. Tahoe OG’s effects are similar to OG Kush, with a heavy euphoric body high which sedates and relaxes anyone who medicates with the strain. Tahoe OG reportedly has a more sedative effect than OG Kush, with OG Kush providing a higher level of euphoria reported by patients. Medicinally, Tahoe OG is known for being a perfect strain to alleviate pain, stress, anxiety, and insomnia in almost all medical marijuana patients who use it. Tahoe OG also has mood elevating properties due to the hybrid genetics of the strain, so it may help some patients elevate their mood if they are suffering from depression.
Tahoe OG is a cross between Chemdawg and Hindu Kush, the two genetic parents of OG Kush. Tahoe is also a phenotype of OG Kush, meaning the physical traits of the plant are unique to the strain. According to Leafly.com’s article on genetic traits, “The plant’s genetic makeup, also called a genotype, acts as a blueprint for growth: it allows a spectrum of physical possibilities, but it is up to the environment to induce these characteristics. The physical expression of a genotype is referred to as a phenotype, which is simply defined as the traits that the environment pulls out from the plant’s genetic code. Everything from color, shape, smell, and resin production are affected by the environment.” So besides the look of the plant, the strain has the same euphoric stoned feeling of OG Kush, but with a more Indica type effect.
Tahoe OG, bred in the Los Angeles/San Fernando valley area, a legendary region for cannabis cultivation, is a California classic. The scent of Tahoe OG is similar to OG Kush, with powerful notes of skunk, pine, lemon, and small hints of fuel: an OG Kush classic trait. The plants grow medium height, with slender leaves and robust round buds. Bred for indoor growing, they do best with hydro mediums and flower from nine-to-ten weeks. The strains delicious scent and flavor is paired with a notoriously high THC content, averaging from 18-22%.
Included below are three reviews of Tahoe OG which MMJ patients posted on Leafly, a marijuana strain network for medical marijuana patients.

“This is my first written review so this should give you a clue. I am compelled to share 😉 First I will say I have a high tolerance, I have a chronic condition, fibromyalgia, and I use daily, through out the day. With that said these are my own personal experiences. Tahoe OG is now in my top 5 Indicas. I have tried pheno number 1, 2, 3, 5 with the next few coming in from our Colletive Garden soon. I have tried the flower, BHO, and bubble hash. The first thing you will notice is the smell. As soon as you open the jar you get a sweet smell that is hard to mistake. Next is the color, it has a slight purple to it. Grind it and you will see more what I am talking about. The flavor is my fav part!!! The bubble hash made by our own Bret Maverick was some of the tastiest I have had so far. Vaping really allows you to taste it as you exhale and get the full effects of the medicine. Now I am not sure about others but it DOES NOT put me to sleep….Not much does though. BUT it makes me feel AMAZING!! Tingles and happy. Just plan in a good mood without being couch locked! This is the end of the day pick me up! LOVE LOVE LOVE We are going to continue to grow this in our collective garden and will have some in very soon!!! CANT WAIT~” –t.heherbalhealing360
“This is without a doubt the strongest OG Kush I have ever tried. This is a very heavy, very potent strain of OG. It has the classic OG high but it’s markedly stronger than any OG I’ve had in recent memory. The smell is the classic OG smell, piney and fresh. Just inhaling this weed lets you know it’s dank. You almost cough smelling the buds, the aroma is so potent. The buds are covered in thick orange hairs and trichomes. The buds are dense, but not uber dense, like AK-47. The buds looks like pine cones or artichokes. Very aesthetically pleasing stuff. The smoke is dank in the lungs. If you hold it in you’ll get a good cough. The taste is the classic OG taste, fresh, piney (as opposed to earthy or fruity). The high comes on really quick, and it’s blasting from there on. Very potent. Very strong effect. Very pronounced body high that comes on with an oomph. Strong OG sedative and analgesic effect. Potent head high, you definitely don’t concentrate on the present moment in this high, it causes your mind to wander, you drift into thought, daydreaming and imagining. The effect last for a very long time, a couple hours. The effect was so strong at first that it was almost a little too strong. For a few minutes at the peak was very, very high. I would recommend taking only one good hit of this before you know how strong it is. I took three full loads and the effect was very strong. In conclusion, this is currently the most potent OG I know of right now. This is a classic, prototypical OG strain, and anyone who wants to know what OG is or wants to try OG, this is the definitive OG, at least in Los Angeles, right now.” -krshna
“Id recently gotten an 8th of this strain, never had tried it before. The first time i took a few puffs, I got an earthy aftertaste, really good, very mellow at first. Within minutes, i was totally relaxed. This strain has a high thc count, 20%-25%. It definitely will cure you of insomnia, some of the best sleeP after coming home from work I’ve had in a while.” -Qman1
